"You can't be both..."
Artist Statement

“You can’t be both…” was  part of a tormenting statement that was exchanged after explaining my ethnicity to a group of growing children. This series showcases a body of work that exposes my personal experiences of processing and understanding labels as a developing biracial individual. Such topics include ignorance within societal standards of what race can and cannot be, what is and isn’t acceptable between races, a need for belonging, self-identification, owning ones Self and the duality of an interracial upbringing.
